Welbeck Estates' Stichelton Cheese 'utterly magnificent'
25 September 2007
Stichelton Cheese, produced on the Welbeck Estate and sold in the Welbeck Farm Shop continues to gather acclaim as Mail on Sunday food columnist Tom Parker Bowles attests in his most recent column for the newspaper.
In an article featuring some of the best cheeses currently produced in Britain, Parker-Bowles, also food writer for Tatler magazine as well as being a television presenter and published author reserved his greatest acclaim for Stichelton.
"(it) really blew me away. The first taste is creamy and lactic, with a hint of blue. Then it unravels across the tongue into sweet, elegant notes before a finish that mixes the buttery with the sharp and strong."
Parker-Bowles continues to rave about Stichelton: "this cheese, I reckon, will just get better. Subtle, complex and utterly magnificent, it's already a classic."
Other cheeses that received glowing reviews in the article are also available from The Welbeck Farm Shop, such as Kirkhams Lancashire, Gubeen, Montgomery's Cheddar and occasionally Stinking Bishop.
