Welbeck Bakehouse
30 June 2009
This exciting new venture, situated on the Welbeck Estate will be opening shortly and will be supplying the Farm Shop with a delicious range of artisan bread, scones and pastries.
This is bread to be proud of - delicious, healthy and a million miles away from factory-made or part-baked supermarket bread.
The bread is made
- With only flour, water, salt and sometimes a small amount of yeast
- Without ‘improvers’, additives or processing aids such as enzymes
- Using organic nuts, fruits, vegetables and fats
Head Baker Roman Kucharski, along with Matthew McCarthy, will be crafting organic sourdoughs and traditional breads from the finest ingredients. This is not earnest bread, it is real, delicious bread to be enjoyed by everybody. You’ll be surprised by how quickly children take to it, and how much better everybody feels when real bread replaces junk food.
Two wood-fired ovens have been specially built for the Welbeck Bakehouse by Alf Armstrong from Cumbria. Well-known author, food campaigner and founder of the Village Bakery, Andrew Whitley, has been a founding consultant.
The full range of Welbeck Bakehouse produce will be available from the Farm Shop in early July 2009.
Welbeck Farm Shop is situated 6 miles from Worksop in Nottinghamshire on the Welbeck Estate. The shop opened in October 2006 and specialises in meat and game sourced from the Estate as well as cheeses such as Stichelton and Lincolnshire Poacher. Fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables plus the very best organic foods are always in stock.
The Welbeck Farm Shop is part of the The Welbeck Estate
